Add a transaction

Log an expense in under a minute.

This is the daily move.

Boring? Yes. Powerful? Hell, Yes!

1. On mobile, tap the green + FAB (bottom-right). On desktop, use Add Transaction on the Transactions page.
2. Choose expense or income, see transfer.
3. Enter Amount, category, merchant, account (note and tag if you want).
4. Save. Your account balance updates.

Tap Trxcns in the bottom nav to search, filter by month, or open a row.

💡 Same merchant every time helps Finie group spends. “Swiggy” beats groceries??”.

List of Categories

Pick the parent that fits, then the most specific subcategory. These are the built-in categories in expenseOS — designed comprehensively for everyday spending and kept consistent so Finie, budgets, and charts stay accurate.

Need a category or subcategory that is not listed? Email sumiet@expenseos.app with the name you want and a one-line example (e.g. “Pet grooming under Personal Care”). We review requests for the shared catalog.
